How To Measure A Pool

Thermal Pool Cover

The measurement for a thermal pool cover is from the inside face of the pool at one end to the inside face at the other end, to provide for maximum length and width of the pool. Superimpose a rectangle over the pool shape and give the length and width of the superimposed rectangle. A drawing is advisable.

Where a roll up station is required, specify where the roll up station will be placed, the type of coping and any impediments along the sides of the pool. Think about how the cover will roll out and roll up again. Specify the type of roll up station. Where more than one roll up station is used, specify how these two roll up stations will be used together.

Solid Cover

Measure from the point of the coping at one end of the pool to the point of the coping at the other end, to obtain the maximum length and width of the pool.

Kidney Shaped Pools for Solid and Leaf Covers

Use a register (straight line) at one side of the pool (see sketch) and measure at 50 cm centres from one end of the pool over the total length. The measurement is from the register to the point of the nearest contour and again from the point of the nearest contour to the point of the contour on the opposite side. This measurement, together with the length of the pool, will provide the profile needed to manufacture the cover to fit the pool.

Angles and Contours

In some cases it may be necessary to make a template of the pool layout, and this is done with a plastic sheet cut to show the overall pool shape.
